January 24 02:15 2014

rsMumbai, Friday, January 24 – The Indian currency was dealing feeble by 26 paise at 62.19 in opposition to the American currency just before the afternoon trading hours.

It skidded by 20 paise to 62.13 in opposition to the greenback in morning deals at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on Friday on augmented requirement for the dollar from importers.

Forex traders cited that a feeble start in the local stock market and increases of the US currency in opposition to other currencies abroad kept pressure on the rupee.

The local unit had shed 12 paise to end at a two-week trough of 61.93 in opposition to the greenback a day earlier.

In the intervening time, the benchmark BSE Sensex of India descended by 82.20 points or 0.38 % to 21,291.46 in the early hours deal on January 24.
