Manna Dey breathes his lasts at the age of 94; B-town mourns

Manna DayOctober 24 – Manna Dey, one of the legendary singers of Hindi Cinema, passed away early in the morning today in Bangalore. The versatile singer was suffering from respiratory and renal problems from past few months.

In his musical journey, he sang so many popular songs that made him to stand apart. Songs like Tu pyar ka saagar hai, Lapak jhapak to aa re badarwa, Aao Twist Karen, Kaun Aya Mere Mann, Chalat Musafir Moh Liya, Pritam Daras Dikhao, Ek Chatur Naar, Yaari Hai Imaan and O Raat Gayee Fir Din Aya etc. made him touch new heights in his career and he brilliantly imparted his role as a singer.

Collaboration of his voice with Raj Kapoor was really interesting in view of the fact that the singer sang romantic songs like Ye raat bheegi bheggi, Mud mud ken a dekh mud mud ke, Pyar hua ikarar hua, Jahan mai jati hun wahin chale aate ho and Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum.

Apart from this, brilliantly sung Kasme vade pyar wafa sab, Pucho Na Kaise Maine Rain Bitai, Zindagi kaisi hai paheli, Hoke majboor mujhe, door hai kinara, Nadiya Chale Re and many others are the songs to be remembered by several coming generations.

His contribution in the Hindi cinema and timelessness of his voice will always remain in the hearts of millions. He received Padma Shri in 1971, Padma Bhushan in 2005 and Dada Sahib Phalke Award in 2007. Music lovers are shocked loosing a golden voice of the nation. B-town people mourn and also pay their tribute to the signer through various social media networks.
